Jenkyn Place is a boutique, family-owned estate belonging to Simon and Rebecca Bladon, set in the idyllic Hampshire countryside with an impressive William and Mary Grade II listed building, dating from the 17th Century.
Simon has succeeded in fulfilling his vision to create a successful brand from scratch. He recognised the huge potential of the land around Jenkyn Place, which was previously planted to hop fields, and the 12 acre vineyard was established in 2004. It was designed and planted on sheltered, south-facing slopes, on soil perfectly suited to producing top quality wines.
Since the first vintage in 2006, they have specialised in dry single-vintage sparkling wine, it produces a Brut Cuvée, Rosé and a Blanc de Noir.
These are made in the traditional method from classic grape varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Simon and Rebecca’s daughter, Camilla, joined Jenkyn Place as sales and marketing manager in 2014 and is committed to taking the company forward. She has already gained a number of qualifications from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and is making her own mark on the company. Simon’s two sons also get involved at harvest when it’s all hands on deck to pick the grapes at the optimum time. The same crack team of experienced pickers return to the vineyard every year, enjoying the famous Jenkyn Place hospitality when all the grapes are safely harvested!
