Gospel Green is a Hampshire-based artisan cider company, making a delicious champagne-inspired drink.
Founded by James Lane, who first made cider aged just 10 years old using apples from his family garden. He launched Gospel Green in 1990 with his wife Cathy, after honing his skills working in the Champagne region in France, lovingly running the company for 26 years. In 2016, Brock Bergius (of the Teachers whisky family) took over as cider maker. Only the best cooking and eating apples are sourced from the Blackmoor Estate in Hampshire, and the cyder house is just a mile from the orchards, ensuring the quality of the apples doesn’t degrade during transportation.
Using the ‘methode champenoise’, the same method used to make Champagne, their brut cyder is a finely bubbled, crisp drink, with aromatics of elderflower and brioche, and a slight earthiness coming through on the palate. The rosé has a hint of pinot noir, aromatics of wild strawberry and hedgerow berries, and a smooth, rounded finish.
